Michelle Elizabeth Keegan was born in Stockport to Jackie Turner and Michael Keegan. A British soldier married her maternal great-grandmother who was a Gibraltarian. She also has Italian and Portuguese ancestry. Keegan attended St Patrick High School in Eccles. Later, she joined the Manchester School of Acting. She also worked as a check-in agent at Manchester Airport.
